Glen Adsit
Glen Adsit is an American conductor and music educator.
Born in Michigan, he was educated at Plymouth High School in Canton, Michigan and received a bachelor's degree in music education and trombone performance and a masters degree in wind conducting from the University of Michigan, where he studied with H. Robert Reynolds. After teaching for seven years in the Michigan public schools system, he became director of the Plymouth Centennial Marching Band from 1989–1994, which, during his tenure, was a two-time Bands of America Grand National Champion. In 1994, he was appointed the Associate Director of Bands at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
An advocate of new music, he is the founder of the National Wind Ensemble Consortium Group, which has over 50 member schools with a mission to commission the world's finest composers to write for wind ensemble. The group consists of Board members, Leonard Slatkin, Philip Smith, Fran Richards, Joseph Schwantner, H. Robert Reynolds, Jerry Junkin, Mike Haithcock, and Eric Rombach-Kendall.〔"Glen Adsit", Faculty Directory. The Hartt School. Accessed June 24, 2008〕
